- 1 egg
- 1 extra-large sweet potato or 3-4 small potatoes
- Cajun seasoning
- Olive oil
- Hamburger buns or soft floury baps
- 4 x pieces of smokey bacon, grilled
- Mature cheddar, sliced
- Gherkins, sliced
- Lettuce, washed
- Mayonnaise
- Tomato relish
- 500g minced beef
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- A small handful of flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
- 150g shop-bought breadcrumbs
1. Combine the ingredients for the burgers in a bowl using your hands making sure they are clean, to mix ingredients together.
2. Form into four burgers, place on a plate, cover with clingfilm and place in the fridge for a couple of hours before use. But take them out of the fridge 15 minutes before cooking them.
3. Heat the oven to 200C. Heat the BBQ for the burgers.
4. Place the potato wedges on a baking tray, sprinkle with Cajun seasoning and drizzle with olive oil. With your hands toss the wedges until coated.
5. Roast in the oven for 35-40 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
6. Meanwhile, place your burgers on the BBQ and cook for 5-8 minutes each side or until cooked through. Set aside to rest for a couple of minutes. Add your baps/buns to the BBQ for a minute to toast them.
7. Assemble your burgers with your toppings and sauces and devour!
Try something different with a lamb and feta burger… Replace the minced beef with lamb. Add some feta cheese into the mixture with the egg and breadcrumbs. Mix some finely chopped mint and natural yoghurt together and serve the burgers on a bun with the mint yoghurt dressing. Yum!
