Ingredients:
- 2 medium free-range eggs
- 2 tablespoons of milk
- Rustic bread, preferably a couple of days old
- 1 tablespoon strawberry jam
- 1 tablespoon of water
- 250g strawberries, sliced
- butter, for frying the French toast
- Icing sugar to dust
Method:
Put the eggs and milk into a flat dish and whisk the ingredients together with a fork.
Slice your loaf into 4 thick slices (around 2.5 cm thick).
In a pan warm the jam with a tablespoon of water until melted, then add the strawberries. Remove from heat.
Gently heat some butter in a non-stick frying pan, dip the bread into the eggy mixture so that it is completely coated and fry gently for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden. Keep the toast warm and repeat with the rest of the bread.
Place your strawberry sauce back on the stove and gently heat for a minute and then divide between each slice of French toast.
Serve on warm plates and dust the strawberry toast with icing sugar.
